Dan Campbell getting any 4th and 5th place votes is insanity....

Vote totals for AP NFL Coach of the Year Award:
Kevin O’Connell, Minnesota: 25-18-7-0-0: 361
Dan Campbell, Detroit: 19-10-8-8-3: 283

I'm gonna be spending a good amount of time this weekend looking at old Stanford passing game concepts.

The Lions hiring David Shaw is a big deal. Great hire.

The 1990's NBA draft suite is what gets me the most.

Campbell on the firing of Pleasant-
January 23, 2025 at 2:48 AM
Hmmmmmmm..... Pleasant's time with the Lions was fraught with zero accountability. He was literally fired for not holding the defensive backs accountable for free styling and not sticking to the game plan.
The Bears have requested Rams assistant head coach & passing game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant to interview for their vacant DC job under Ben Johnson, source said. A key reason Chris Shula's defense impressed so much late in the season.

I'm in no real rush to find out who's going to take over the Lions defensive and offensive coordinator positions, but it does seem weird that we haven't heard about any movement considering how likely it was that both coaches were leaving. It seems like a succession plan would have been in place.

I feel for those whose careers revolve around engagement that have to stay on X.

100%. The Lions also did a number on themselves with physical play. 2 broken arms and a Jaw from friendly fire.
This will remain true, even more now as the Bears grow.

Would also add: At least PART of why Det-GB-Minn tanked in playoffs is bc they beat the living shit out of each other to get there.
No doubt - NFC North is a murderers row - playoff performances notwithstanding.

With Glenn leaving I think it's a great opportunity for defensive growth. Glenn did an insane job with his group after losing a whole battalion to injury, but if we want to compete at the next level we need to dictate more. I trust Dan to find the right next guy.

Brad Holmes has always had good timing...
Crash coursing some Senior Bowl OL/DL tonight. In honor of the passing of John Sykes, it's a Blue Murder and Whitesnake soundtrack. One of my favorite guitarists from that era, loved his tone. RIP 🙏

(btw it's a GREAT year to need interior OL/DT)
