I finished watching Adolescence yesterday and I found myself wondering if there was ever a second of functional discipline in that kids house. I'm not suggesting anything like I had growing up, but something? Anything?

I can think of one way. Make it not be a crime for the people to rise up and Antoinette the entire assembly of Gov't if it gets that way. The people in Gov't are there to serve not be served. That needs to be remembered, but it needs to be reminded first.
one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

Yep, and Jeffries shouldn't be doing a fucking book tour while our Gov't falls at critical velocity into fascism. Members of the press have a moral responsibly, but elected officials have legal responsibilities that outweigh any of that. He's supposed to be a head of the party. Just waiting...
