But as someone who gave half a shit joining the union, joining with others who care, and pushing for the the rights we had already secured in name we have been able to cause huge local changes for the better. People positively respond when someone gives a shit in a sea of hopeless resignation

Upper management is just looking to ruin our service and pinch pennies to then serve up the remains to private industry to profit from.
Much of the union is equally moribund: retirees or those near who have their middle class life secured and are bitter the new hires are all broke and desperate

Fair enough. I agree 40k is too grimdark to actually be pro-imperium, but I also think that grimdark "everyone's wrong"-ness means that all critiques end up true. In 40k Jordan Peterson blubbering about a sex party is just as true as saying maybe purging all xenos is bad

This is why I'm a chaos fan: if everyone I see fighting for a better world irl is depicted with viking horns and extra arms then I guess that's what I'm painting up.

I personally feel like the doylean argument is actually more interesting here. What chaos does for the 40k universe is make the fash right. Sexual deviancy does lead to a breakdown of reason. Reading too much and thinking too hard about how to improve society will cause it all to come tumbling down

I think the politics of SW may not be any more sophisticated than fash bad, but they're certainly more resonant and made to be more marketable in a fascinating way

I think it's really interesting to look at the SW films as someone who is broadly left wing sanding off any edges so that no one is offended and they can all see themselves in the good guys. The Trumpian "honest hard working business owner standing up to govt overreach" fits just as well...

I think I agree that his policies aren't generally more pro-buissness, but it seems to me they are more concerned with the whims of the top 10 most wealthy in our country. Oligarchy seems descriptive when small-mid sized businesses also suffer with workers for the richest oligarchs
