I guess the first line of this thread was the point.

Comparative mythology is FASCINATING.

How religions have impacted each other.

How Christianity impacted modern retellings of norse myth,

How Christianity absorbed ancient traditions from its neighbours etc.

Some argue that the Roman-era cults of Dionysus, Persephone, Isis and Osiris, and Orpheus, could have had an influence on the Catholic ritual of communion, a rather esoteric and mystical tradition for what has become a rather mundane religion (again, no offense intended)

But that's a separate convo

(I am of course speaking from the perspective of an Agnostic Atheist, this isn't intended as some great gotchya, but more as a cool way that humans often tell each other similar stories)

There is this theoretical archetype of the Death-Rebirth God, which depending on the scholar includes figures like Dionysus, Osiris, Odin, Ishtar, Queltzalcoatl, Baal, and of course, ya boi, Jesus Christ.

A frightening question.

Basically my take.

Ideally we shouldn't treat animals as if they aren't living.

It's ultimately about reducing necessary violence against living things as much as we can.

To hope for an absolute is ridiculous.
