BREAKING: We’re suing the Trump administration over the expected unlawful and unprecedented invocation of the Alien Enemies Act.

This is the same policy used during WWII to justify the internment of people of Japanese ancestry.

Basel Adra, the co-director of Oscar-winning documentary “No Other Land,” says his intention with the film was “not the award itself but … to get to people’s hearts.”

He wants the world to see what is happening in his community of Masafer Yatta in the West Bank.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

Trump just withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.

devastated by the news that David Lynch has passed away.

I spent the last several months of 2024 watching all of Twin Peaks, as well as Eraserhead for the first time, and I just don’t know what to say.

He’s unlike any filmmaker I’ve seen before, and now he’s gone.

RIP to a generational creative.

Read this great, in depth article from @melissagiragrant.com about all the problems with the Laken Riley Act and then take action here by demanding Congress reject the bill: actionnetwork.org/letters/no-t...
the Laken Riley Act is a destructive, anti-immigrant bill, fueled by and fueling xenophobia, along with grotesque fictions about defending white womanhood. it's also legal chaos. my piece:
The Laken Riley Act Spells Chaos for the Immigration System
The U.S. immigration system isn't ready for the havoc and expense this bill could unleash. But the real pain will be felt by the immigrants the bill targets.

Judy Becker has created one of the most impactful set pieces in modern film history - all out of love for the brutalist architecture era. The attention paid to the endless details of the Bauhaus movement in its strong lines & traumatic influence is awe inspiring. I was weeping!

CNN interviewed more than a dozen experts, and they said that no fire hydrants would have been able to stop the LA wildfires with the high winds. “I don’t know a water system in the world that is that prepared for this type of event,” said one expert.
No ‘water system in the world’ could have handled the LA fires. How the region could have minimized the damage | CNN
Widespread destruction from the L.A. fires was inevitable, given the drought and winds. Still, the region could have been better prepared.

I watched Dave Franco's directional debut, The Rental, and I can't stop thinking about it in the context of COVID-19.

The inherent friction between characters and how that connects to Americans' growing distrust of each other makes it a better movie.

Good stuff! #filmsky
