This used to seem like an off-the-wall joke that I barely got, but now…
Same, Lucy. Same.

Sometimes life slows you down, like that moment I was with my wife in our little apartment slow-dancing to “Another First Kiss” by @tmbg.bsky.social, and I thought about when I first heard that song as a nerdy teenager with braces and no idea how good life could get.

Neat trick: you can raise crime rates by making more things illegal.

Your honor, he wasn’t a bank robber. He liked robbing credit unions that looked like banks. I’m just giving facts. He wasn’t into, like, robbing Bank of America locations. He robbed financial cooperatives that could pass for banks, but that any passerby would assume are legal to rob.

Thoughts on “Through This Fire Across from Peter Balkan” (@themountaingoats.bsky.social)

This is Matt Douglas’s album. The arrangements are pristine and, at times, carry the narrative as much as, or even more than, the lyrics. Spectacular.

Never allow your political party power that you wouldn’t want your opposition to have.

@themountaingoats.bsky.social , looking forward to the show! We’re standing near the front of the stage. Just posting this again on the off chance you’ll see it.
Cheers!
@themountaingoats.bsky.social, my wife just signed to publish her first poetry collection. A few of her poems involve possums, partly inspired by Possum by Night, one of the first tMG songs I played for her. We’ll be at the show in NC on Saturday. It would be awesome if you’re able to play that one.

If you give me a line drawing of a bunny, it ought to be a bird when I turn it upside down. I don’t make the rules. We live in a society.

It’s like Trump sees that conservative media types have been kept out of certain roles, so he’s actively hiring them to correct this negative bias. Not sure what to call it…something like non-negative anti-passivity. Maybe there should be a govt agency to make sure the inequity doesn’t happen again.

Emelia Perez would get points for originality if it were the first time a story about a parent who’s trans has been set against themes of familial dysfunction and political trauma and then awkwardly squeezed into a musical.

But it’s not even that.

On Spotify, @tmbg.bsky.social’s “Apollo 18” album has Fingertips grouped as a single track, and that’s just unacceptable.

This is good. What their work gave to you is yours, and they can’t take it away or control it.
I'll say this:

Never stop looking up to creators who made something that made you feel a little less lonely and a little more seen in the world.

If something bad comes out about them, believe victims, mourn who you thought they were, and move on to something else that fills your soul.

The current members of our townhome complex’s HOA board are all women around retirement age, many of whom have been doing this for years. Recently they’ve been pleading for more members, so I volunteered. They voted me in on the spot.

So now it’s Janet, Marsha, Carol, Sandy, Roberta, and me.

I see we have some spending money.

We could, by conservative estimates, end world hunger 40 times over, but have you considered building a really neat train tube so rich people can make their business trips faster?
