I finally did it. It took several years of starting and stopping, but I've finally conquered The Stand. Word of advice, dont start reading Stephen King's Magnum Opus in the middle of a pandemic - it may lead you to negative feelings. The crushing despair of society collapsing felt quite real.

Finished up the First Law trilogy with Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie. Spent some time thinking about this one, cause I think it was a fantastically written piece of work where all the characters have great arcs. As a conclusion it built on the previous works in great ways.

Tyler the Creator is probably my favorite artist atm, so I was happy to learn that he secretly recorded and dropped an album while actively touring.

Don't Tap the Glass by Tyler the Creator is a fun, funky throwback to old-school hip hop through that unmistakable Tyler the Creator lenses.

I failed at my goal of a new Album a week this year. Turns out getting into audio books took my listening time. Didn't stop me from discovering new music though.

Let God Sort Em Out by Clipse is a masterpiece. A beautiful fusion of honesty, attitude and lyricism.

Decided to catch up on some series that I had started but not really heavily invested in so I read through Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie.

All The Sinners Bleed by S. A, Cosby was the next book chosen for my book club. It had been a while since I read a straightforward detective story, and this one definitely scratched that itch. This felt like reading through an HBO crime series.

Crushed Leviathan Wakes by James SA Corey on the planes and trains in Japan. I tried to watch the TV show a few times but never really connected with it, but found the book much more engaging. I think the fixed perspectives of just the two leads led to a better paced introduction into this world.

Read through Authority by Jeff Vandermeer while travelling. While I enjoyed the first book of the series, I had many more issues connecting to the narrative of this one. While getting the outside perspective of the Southern Reach was cool, I found myself less interested compared to the first book.

Went on my first major vacation and my first international flight! Visited a friend in Japan and did some tourist stuff! Lots of experiencing cities, nature and culture. Great for inspiration and definitely coming home with lots of fresh ideas! (just not rest XD)

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman plus the other 6 books in the franchise. I burst through these in a couple of weeks. Went hard. Too hard.

I would highly recommend this series. Its fun, its funny and it can be poignant when it wants to be.

Catching up some books I read in the last few months.

Rivers In The Sky by Elif Shafak.

This was selected for one of my book clubs, and despite being outside my bread and butter of genre fiction I still enjoyed the read. It was an interesting exploration of connections through history and culture

Why does life always happen at once! Housing, Family, Travel prep. Terry Pratchett taught me the phrase "May you live in interesting times" and boy can I feel it XD

Just finished Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. Great prose. Story takes its time, but I viewed it like a fantasy slice of life, where every slice is Pain. : P

Mad Max X Lovecraft

An elder god devoured the Earth. Six young soldiers find themselves lost among the leftovers of fallen worlds. Separated from their allies, they need to survive a hostile desert where their humanity turns out to be the most valuable resource. #Q #A #SFF #Questpit

Finished The Deep Sky by Yume Kitase for my book club. An interesting take on a deep space murder mystery. A decent debut and standalone! : )

Album 1: Alligator Bites Never Heal by Doechii

Thought this was awesome! Doechii can do it all! Sing, rap, and everything in between. Tons of unique songs and sounds on every track. Felt like she was showing off XD. Def will keep an eye on what they put out!

Favorite Track: NISSAN ALTIMA

Have been trying to listen to at least one album every week to broaden my music horizon. Lots of great music released last year but I def have a habit of re-listening to the same thing over and over again.

I'll try to share my thoughts on them as I listen, as well as being open to suggestions!

Finished reading Red Rising! Interesting concept that promises to expand into something even bigger. Gives an interesting taste of the universe it builds while getting you introduced to what I assume is the cast we will be following going forward. Great start!
