It's just a trash opinion from people nominally on the left but lacking any kind of universalism. I'm pretty sure the greatest increases in human capital come from emigration of folks lower down the socioeconomic ladder and at the top it's much more zero-sum.

because the moment courts stop blocking these gerrymanders, each state's congressional delegation is in danger of becoming winner-take-all at the state level, which is just totally democratically untenable

It's just utter fucking climate nihilism - to the extent it's even grounded in a logic, it's either complete denial of the climate crisis or an amoral subordination of quiet successes to political exigency. It's just fucking heinous for Shapiro to make this kind of deal.

As far as I can tell most segregationists think they're centrist, on the basis of them not actively advocating the elimination of people they hate. real high bar

There's a bankruptcy in Bowser's pro-housing rhetoric, which is shown by these failures. Property owners (incl. homeowners!) make off from housing scarcity; scarcity justifies development largesse; and corruption ensures the largesse never addresses the scarcity. An iron triangle of housing graft.

can't avoid the conclusion reading this that an unspoken agreement between Leonhardt and Muñoz is that there is a demand from the public for border violence, which is legitimate and should be honored. Just an utterly amoral position!

"The answer to that, really, David, is that we have a border. We have a border for a reason and it is reasonable to enforce that border."
It's so horribly lazy when people talk this way. What is the reason? Why do we need to violently stop people who just want to get jobs that would hire them?

had made a principled rejection of intersectionality at the time. ditto for the outrage over Sheikh Jarrah, Shireen Abu Akleh, and Gaza. it's just absurd reporting on internal politics

this story's framing is so bogus, frankly. it acts like the Sierra Club could have just hunkered down and ignored the changes in culture that drove this, when doing so would have been just as destructive. they would have hemorrhaged staff and donors and seen chapters disaffiliate in 2020 if they

Just incredible evil, including repeatedly sending messages saying it would put a person on the other end. They built a machine that’s a soulless liar that has kind words and homework help and this is where that kind of abomination leads.
