Suddenly, the reactions your character has that you assumed were geared at other characters in your interactions become reactions your character has about you.

Suddenly your actions aren't so trivial anymore when at best you force that character to hang out with people they don't like and even force romance on them and at worst force that character to commit atrocities that would have you put away for years if not forever in real life.

Suddenly, the moments when the character snatches control away from you aren't so much a game script as it's the character rebelling against you, in the same vein as a possessed person trying to fight off what's possessing them or a person being forced by another to do things suddenly lashing out.
