wanting to get into FFXIV roleplay communities is an equivalent feeling to standing in the corner at a party for me, because 1) I'm too early game to have a lot of glamour options still and 2) even online the prospect of approaching people I don't already know is nervous-making

I think one of the most obnoxious things I've seen repeated about FFXVI since its release is the idea that "it's not a real Final Fantasy." If someone doesn't like the game, that's fine, but that phrase in and of itself has and always will comically miss the entire point of the franchise.

they should make a version of ff14 where instead of the world being scary and sad and needing you to save it, everything is perfectly fine everybody is friends and like kissing on the lips and stuff.

this is a sentiment i've seen echoed elsewhere but i miss forums being the popular place to form communities online. i'm only 20 so i didn't get a ton of time with them but i was on a sonic forum among a couple others as a kid and from the memories i have of it nothing we have now is quite the same.

about a week ago, after playing for about a year and a half (with some extended breaks here and there) i finally reached the end of ARR's main story in ff14! I still have the post-ARR content to get through before Heavensward but the horizon looks promising.
