My predictions for this year's Game Awards GOTY noms:

Hades II
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Donkey Kong Bananza
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Split Fiction
Blue Prince or Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

As for the winner, E33 def seems to be the fan favorite, but I think Hades II is just as likely to win

Didn't realize the PS5 home screen was cool like that

No one will remember the Watch Dogs online mode where one player controls the city with their irl phone while the other player races in-game and tries to survive the dangers created by their rival and that is a travesty

As a former games media freelancer whose time was also cut short by the whims of a corporation, my heart goes out to the folks at Giant Bomb and Polygon. Both teams have created incredible works over the years that have brought far more joy to people than business executives ever could.

Feels like we're on the brink of a few banger game releases and a bunch of exciting game trailers dropping over the next month or so. Plus Furiosa and Double or Nothing coming up soon, and all of the great TV shows starting in June, there's a lot that feels like it's almost here

I have very little interest in this game, but I do highly respect the director's views on traversal and think more open world games should take this approach. If players would rather sit through a loading screen of any length than travel through the world, thats a knock against the core gameplay imo
Dragon’s Dogma 2 director says he doesn’t like fast travel because it can mean a game is boring ...
“All you have to do is make travel fun”…

It's gonna be hard for me to get excited about Indiana Jones again after that miss of a fifth movie, but if anyone can do it, I have faith in MachineGames. Hoping for a good showing next week

Alan Wake 2 (2023)

While I've been fortunate enough to attend several press preview events, I'm still bummed that I never got the chance to attend E3, especially during its heyday

Pretty wild that the most acclaimed superhero game trilogy to date is still best played on their original platforms since the PS4/Xbox One and Switch ports have all turned out terrible. And the prequel never even got ported to newer platforms despite solid reviews. Batman Arkham deserves better

My current prediction for Game Awards GOTY nominees are:

Tears of the Kingdom
Baldur's Gate 3
Resident Evil 4
Super Mario Wonder
Spider-Man 2

For the final spot, either Alan Wake 2 or Street Fighter 6 depending on how the former reviews.

Somewhere out there is a property manager sleeping in while their tenants hear 8 am construction work on a Saturday 🙃

Shocked by the good fortune of AEW having Danielson return from injury right after CM Punk was kicked out, and having Copeland join just in time to fill the "must-watch" void that Punk left behind. Gotta imagine backstage morale has only improved since All In

Between Humanity, Viewfinder, Cocoon, and (in all likelihood) Talos Principle 2, 2023 is easily an all timer year for puzzle games

Looks like I made it here just in time/several months late
