I spoke with immigration organizer Silky Shah about how organizers are preparing to defend immigrant communities, and what actions we can take to prepare and respond. If you want to get more involved, be sure to check the resources in the show notes.
How Immigration Organizers Are Gearing Up for Another Trump Era
“It’s inherently a racial justice fight and economic justice fight,” says organizer Silky Shah.

Kwaneta Harris is a former nurse, business owner and expat, now incarcerated journalist and a @haymarketbooks.org Writing Freedom Fellow. Her powerful and shocking stories expose how the intersection of gender, race and place contribute to state-sanctioned, gender-based violence.

Found this press recently after a student was published in their Encyclopedia of Radical Helping. It’s one of the most beautiful books — physically and in content — I’ve owned. Such a beautiful idea. Sliding scale cost. thickpress.com

Mass student strike happening in #Montreal at Concordia university. After a vote, students have voted to go on strike to demand divestment from the state of Israel by the university. In the 1980s, similar struggles helped push for divestment from apartheid South Africa.
They filled the lobby before marching to every floor, disrupting classes.

Behind them, boarded up windows can be seen. These were smashed during a demo in late September that reportedly caused $600,000 in damages to the university, which has refused to divest from Israeli apartheid and genocide.

Just recently submitted my manuscript for POLICE AGAINST THE MOVEMENT. It's a retelling of the civil rights movement through its overlooked work against police violence—and the police who attacked the movement with surveillance, infiltration, and retaliatory prosecutions.

Publication next fall!
