Alright. How is it that none of you slackers told me about this Jesse Welles kid. Now I gotta find room to reshuffle my whole goddamn "best of" music list for this year.

Hot take: Hospitals should hire more nurses and pay them more. I wonder if anyone’s thought of that.

This “peace plan” is undiluted appeasement, and every American should be ashamed to have our name attached to it. Our peace plan for Ukraine should be giving them whatever the need to rain ruin on Russia until Russia withdraws to pre-2014 borders. Full stop.

TIL: "It sort of clips in at the front, then you rock it back and it locks into place — y'know, like an AK mag?" is not a helpful way to explain to most people how to reinsert the dustbin from one of those stand-up vacuums.

Markwayne accidentally tells the truth: Just like you can't typically control whether or not you live within 500' of a hydrant, most people have at least SOME parts of their health that are out of their control — making his "reward people for being healthy" self-evidently pants-on-head stupid.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

This isn't even remotely the biggest problem I've got right now, but there being a new Ken Burns documentary out and me not having the time to watch it is a real kick in the 1s and 2s.

Hang on. If tariffs are paid by the countries of origin and not by American consumers (as Trump has insisted literally hundreds of times), how could suspending tariffs on these goods lower costs for Americans? It's almost like he was lying or something.

I'm always happy when a new Trek project is teased, and I love what these guys did with D&D. But we've had a lot of announcements since ST:B came out in 2013, and they've all evaporated. So wake me up when it starts production, and I'll see about getting excited.

Even if this were true (it's not), that's a dumb fucking thing to have (or want) a "golden age" of. These dipshits really do just have one language: The tacky, gold-plated micro-vocabulary of their boss.

I sure do wish someone had been paying attention while the American right wing spent decades intentionally devaluing education and stigmatizing expertise until the electorate's actions became sufficiently divorced from policy outcomes to allow a post-policy party to govern unchallenged.

I realize that it reflects the reality of the current state of healthcare in the United States, but it's really icky when a healthcare provider (or in this case, the IVR answering their calls) refers to me as a "customer" rather than as a patient.

Today's surprise feeling:

I'm often inwardly judgmental when I receive email/text/Slack messages from people that I, in my snobbery, perceive as "poorly-written". That usually makes me feel bad about myself for being uncharitable to my fellow human beings. (1/2)

The question has never been "Is the sitting President of the United States a sexual predator?" The question has always been "How much of a sexual predator is the sitting President of the United States?" Don't get me wrong. I want to know, and we deserve to know. But it won't be a revelation.
Trump bragged about grappling women by the pu**y & barging into rooms of partially dressed, young pageant contestants. A jury concluded he assaulted E. Jean Carroll in a dressing room. So nothing that’s in the Epstein emails is a surprise. It’s just confirmation.

Ah, yes. The famously politically correct social landscape of the hippiest of times, 1947 America 🙄
Trump: "We have officially renamed the Dept of Defense back to the original name, Dept of War. And remember we won World War 1, we won World War 2, we won everything in between. We won everything that came before. And then we brilliantly decided to change the name. We became politically correct"
