Your heart and my heart are very old friends. Hafiz

And an introduction as I've never done one.
My full first name is Samantha and I'm a single mum living in Dorset.
Obsessed by nature. Obsessed by my 3 donkeys.
Finally made a go of it as an artist after moving here in 2010.

My week.
Painting a bee’s bum.
Painting a gorgeous wren.
Painting pebbles for someone for a sad but lovely reason.
And my artwork being on the cover of a book that’s doing very well. It was nearly 50 illustrations in total and I learnt so much.

Also freezing most of the time too.

This is where I live - the Marshwood Vale here in Dorset, England. No snow today but a frost that's permeated my toes.

'In the Bleak Midwinter'. A poem by the English poet Christina Rossetti. Published as 'A Christmas Carol' in 1872.
Beautiful words.

I wish that I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being. Hafiz

And I'm only posting this now as he looks so comfy cuddled up and I wish I was still asleep too.

Sunday alarm clocks are grim.

1/4 of my unsold original paintings. Yes, it’s tough out there right now.

My mean employer only pays me £10 an hour to do them.

But I love painting. It’s what I was meant to do. ❤️

One newish picture, but otherwise, awfully old pictures. Especially those beach huts. But I love the words in it.

The moon is beautiful tonight and never gets less inspiring.

A new month and a new picture in my calendar.
1st watercolour is November in my 2025 calendar
2nd watercolour is November in my Birthday Calendar
3rd picture is the front page of my 2026 calendar
Or as I like to think of it, how to keep making art next year.
I hope you like them.

Rumi — 'I will soothe you and heal you, I will bring you roses.I too have been covered with thorns.'
And
'For the rest of my life I will search for moments full of you.'
Both watercolours. Both with either gold or silver gouache.
Hand lettering by me too. No AI.

I painted these four pictures as a set many years ago.
I love a dark purple and green together.

I really hope you like them.
None of the words (ever) are mine and when I get a minute later I'll pop in the comments the authors.

I can’t get my wren painting video to post so here’s a Wren on a fritillaria instead.
I really hope you enjoy it. #noai

May you have a sleepy, autumnal day just like this beautiful horse with his buddies, the fox and the robin.

I'd nearly given up feeding the hogs every night.
Then I opened the door to take the dog out to spend a penny and there were two of these beautiful creatures on my doorstep, loving their feed of kitten biscuits.
Just the best thing to see.

Also two hedgehogs on my doorstep this evening, tucking into their kitten food.

I love badgers and was so thrilled to see Hamza Yassin's beautiful footage of these wonderful creatures on the BBC.
I hope I dream of them tonight after seeing such wonder.

I paint little pebbles and this is how I get them ready for posting.
Painted with love.
Wrapped with love.
Sent with love.

In honour of last night's beautiful moon.

The second picture has words by Maya Angelou.
"If you're always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be."

If you enjoy seeing my work, I'd love it if you could show your friends who are on here too. Thank you 😊

Something new but not quite finished.
Really happy with the lettering and the sun. Less happy with the hare!
Work to be done.

Some little paintings I did last year using real leaves.
And the sweetest of animals….

A reminder today that things don't always go as you planned in life.
I absolutely couldn't make a go of it doing colour pencil drawings like this. But I did get there in the end.

If you can afford to keep trying, keep trying x
