In 1989-90, while this movement to take MLK's name off of a Portland street was gaining traction, very few mainstream outlets or Democratic politicians were willing to call that movement "racist" for fear of being unfair. But the guy behind it was a stone cold white supremacist w/ neo-Nazi ties.
