The clock is ticking, disaster is imminent… and the only hope left is a spy story held together with duct tape and sheer determination. SPY MOVIE: The Play! is a no-holds-barred comedy caper bursting with low-budget brilliance and big laughs.

How about a comedy show about hope. And also: mental illness, bad ideas, good liars, Lorraine Kelly... But mostly hope.

Joe lives with Borderline Personality Disorder. This show is what happened when he tried to understand it without exploding.

Last year we co-commissioned Lynn Faces by Laura Horton with New Diorama Theatre and Theatre Royal Plymouth. Laura won the Birds of Paradise Exceptional Theatre Award (Neurodiverse Review Awards 2024) for Lynn Faces.

Stage Two is 120 seats and is a space to explore intimate stories and walk in other people's shoes. Particularly in that space I’m looking for storytelling shows, compact dramas and subjects with social impact.

Norwich Playhouse is 300 seats. Year-round Fringe vibe across all genres, mainly 1-3 day runs. We have one of the best comedy audiences in the UK and growing theatre/dance audiences. We also programme family shows, mainly primary-age.

Also has no-one here read John Wyndham? This guy's going to eat me in my sleep....

Stupid o'clock and I'm already on a train heading to That London for the first day of rehearsals on Spy Movie:The Play!
UK tour premieres in Norwich 29 Apr. It's going to Chester! It's going to Guildford! It's going to the Edinburgh Fringe! It's going to other places too!

New tour! Taking this on t'road from April through the summer.

A love letter to the spy films we all know and adore, Spy Movie: The Play! is a farcical comedy that creates a Hollywood movie on a fringe theatre budget.

Today's my 3 year anniversary as Head of Programming & Producing at Norwich Theatre. In those three years I've worked with hundreds if not thousands of brilliant artists and people behind the scenes to make so many brilliant shows come to life. A few of my highlights: 🧵

My front door draft excluder is a dog and every morning I feel bad about moving him to leave the house. Folks, meet Alan Benson, Head of Security.

I had a little watch of this. So many emotions. Eps 2 & 3 are the era of my first ever job in entertainment - I worked in pop marketing from 1995. I ran fanclubs, set up websites, airbrushed away spots pre-Photoshop, flyered at gigs. It was a riot.
(yep, I'm old)

Last night we opened Carlos Acosta's Nutcracker in Havana at Richmond Theatre. Not an inch of free space backstage, but the team pulled it off brilliantly. The man next to me was as much a joy to watch as the show - he twinkled with delight, wiped away tears and yelled for more.

Last night I previewed A Christmas Carol (ish).
Nick Mohammed's Mr Swallow never fails to make me grin from ear to ear. Not just very silly, but genuinely good songs & actual magic. This pulls out the stops with a huge set, band & quite the finale. This is the xmas nonsense you need in your life!
