Living a great life in the Waiariki / Rotorua Lakes rohe with my tane, our rangatahi, and our kuri
I thought I would call on to my son's work on my way home as I hadn't seen him yesterday or today. That meant buying food that doesn't agree with me. 2 hrs later my digestive system *might* be calming down...

Took youngest to buy sunglasses as I scored giftcards from doing a forum... one of said ecards apparently wouldn't go through. Youngest didn't want me to make a fuss and insisted on covering the $25 one. Then the next one wouldnt so that's when I said there has to be something wrong. Just activated/

Both our rangatahi had an enjoyable time. Both appeared happy w/ what they got, from the lipsalve to the main
One of the prizes/gifts was a dash cam for the car the youngest has access to. He recently got a VERY large speeding fine, & it's a condition of continued use of car. He took this very well
Not Christian. So Xmas is just commercialisation.
We chose to not celebrate yrs ago.
One child didn't want to miss out on gifts so we started a new tradition.
A treasure hunt. Clues made up by us, sm everyday things w something nice from parents for the last.
Hours of fun for all every year.

We don't do Christmas but as I had an inkling husband was getting something for me, I organised a few small thing for him. I know he likes seeing the shape ahead so wrapped in brown paper.
It turns out I am receiving more gifts than he is...

A read for anyone interested in why vaccinations are good for individuals and society
Antivaxxers bringing back measles is a reason to worry about way more than just measles
For decades, scientists couldn't figure out why the measles vaccine didn't just lower death rates from measles, but from other diseases too. Now we know it's because measles causes immune amnesia. Measles resets the immune system. It forgets how to fight every single pathogen it's ever encountered.

PSA: Keep supermarket receipts!
They overcharge often, and,
if you find you have bought something out of date their first response is do you have your receipt.
It's 23 Dec 23. I just bought Castello mellow Black. Got home, saw it was bb 04 Dec 23. 40km round trip to sort it.

FYI, if you use Dropbox, they automatically opted us all in for “Third-Party AI” which is shady as hell.

To fix, log into the desktop site, click on your account icon>settings>third party AI and turn it off.

My husband has taken our eldest to the cinema. I had a hair appointment & was all good with keeping that/not going to the cinema.
Now home, I'm eating smoked salmon, kumara rostis with a glass of chilled wine. Fresh cherries for pud. Plus peace & quiet. Bliss. (Had a massive salad for lunch)

Here comes the privatisation of health.
‘Different funding models’ is code for ‘the private sector will not just build hospitals but also own them.’

The UK called it the Private Finance Initiative. It was more expensive than public funding, and leases are expiring. It leads to privatisation of healthcare.

Government considering different funding models to build new hospitals
The coalition deal with ACT commits the government to investigate build and lease-back arrangements.

Jono and Ben, and Henry Cooke are now speaking out about how wrong the government's direction is.
Better late than never I guess.

Just FYI, we’ve had gender Self-ID in New Zealand now for six months.

We were assured by our opposition that the moment it went through, men would start abusing the process to prey on women.

Not one such incident has occurred.

Where is our apology?

Anyway I guess we know various people who insisted dealing with language was meaningless virtue signals actually think it matters quite a bit.

CEO Te Pukena has resigned after taking a call to say even though we know we have to change legislation, stop all work towards new structure. No alternate plan known at this stage, but stop.
All those costly restructures, the impact on lives, ignored by #NationalNotFitToGovern

I've just been to the dentist and now am craving food. I don't need to eat. I ate lunch beforehand. This is because I was told not to. Then came back to work to afternoon tea happening.
