Vintage sewing machines (White, Kenmore): vermicomposting: gardening USDA zone 8b: skirmish wargaming: EverQuest awhile ago:

Not much for reposts, either doing or reading. Let’s be originals.
I refuse to believe there are 14 year olds on this platform. We all reek of ‘too much prefrontal cortex to be in the age range for that’.

This shirt looks split but only because there’s actual red* (& black) dye on there as well as the purple. It should become imperfect (by request) geode patterns with a touch of spirals on the sleeves. 3/3

*red is also a new favorite color

…ordering a purple dye which would split red instead of blue.

They sent a return email: if splitting was a problem could they please suggest this “grape” dye instead, a pure pigment purple which would not split at all? I was happy to agree. Substitute sent, shirt is now a solid purple. #tiedye

In the lead-up to Halloween, the kids playing at our local McDonald’s spontaneously decided to test out their happy meal buckets by trick or treating around the dining room. Some other parent was quick-witted. You’ve never seen kids happier to report back they got a ketchup packet.

At least all cats of eligible size are vaccinated & dewormed?…I was within a day of checking everyone off the list!

Seven! No wonder she was short-tempered & less willing to come when I chirruped.

Did you pre-soak the grains/cereal? Next step in my rye loaf experiment is to soak the caraway seeds in something to help them spread their flavor. They’re tough little buggers to crush in mortar & pestle!

There was zero discharge so the dye pattern is muted to near invisibility, though the colors are harmonious.
I will re-tie in the same pattern & dye again with much more dye.

Changed my mind on the dye readiness of the white shirt, will re-tie the geodes with more floss.

It warms the dough (that’s more significant than I gave it credit for), produces a real kneading, gives you one smooth lump of risen dough. I take that out and shape it some more, then oven bake, & it’s far easier with one well kneaded lump than the sloppy dough I used to create by hand kneading.

Now let rise the modding community which got me to smile at a Precious Moments porcelain soppy sentiment, after it had been repainted into something to shock the establishment. Just knowing that what’s now an In Living Color tribute would’ve done to the blood pressure of the average PM collector…

They do put more wear on your machine, with the gooey exterior not completely being flushed away. But they’re fine! It made our toddler very happy to Help with the Dishes with a dishwasher pod without flooding the kitchen with suds.

Our local tree canopy is 98% live oaks, which drop terrible sticks. Earlier this month the big kids dropped by:
—we’re making a big tent, [preschooler’s mom], have you got any sticks?
—yeah, the good stick pile’s at the side of the house, help yourselves
We got back an excellent tepee structure.

He (?) finally became hungry enough to relocate to scary-grackle-land & ingratiate himself with the outdoor litter. (They had TNR appointment on Friday & have been most grateful to be home again, so inclined to be kind.) He’s becoming tame much faster than cats with a mama. He might survive.

I’m unduly pleased with how the embroidery came out. My machine has a stitch width dial & it brought back etch-a-sketch memories to fill in parts of the stencil with a single strip of zigzagging where possible.
