@ChrisLawley You showed off resizing the Final Cut window on an external display. My first question is… How small does the window get?

The iPad doesn’t currently do minimum window sizes to my knowledge, so did they make a whole iPhone layout or is this a sneak peak for a new API?

Glad to see […]

This should mark the end of a turbulent phase as Shimmer has gone from being a bookmark manager to a real browser, and adopted Liquid Glass, in a very short space of time. Expect the next few releases to be more feature-light as I tidy up the backend.

The code is holding up fairly well […]

The “Liquid Glass” mode has been replaced by “Immersive”, which was going to be THE new design, but I did end up trying to bring back Balanced and Arclike relatively last minute. It was a bit of a hacky job, and Arclike especially will get more consideration going forward.

With these new modes […]

Note: “Dock” just means bottom toolbar, for now. I’m still considering which tabs make sense to display in it. Maybe that could be an option! 😄

Toolbar customisation has had some polish, and I’m finding customisation is not just power-user-friendly and great for prototyping, but also a great […]

Other notable changes:

The sidebar can be resized down into just icons, which allows you to do a slight-scroll-and-hold gesture to show names.

There’s a “dock” now. I somehow managed to realise my 2 design prototypes from last year into a single working app! 🥳

I’ve added the ability to […]

Silly me, thinking it was broken at larger text sizes. Apple can be very consistent when they want to be, and would never let things break only when accessibility is enabled.

Will this abdication of responsibility hold up in court?

Well, this software was provided without warranty of any kind, and in no event shall the authors be held liable for any damages incurred through use of the software.

Software licenses are kinda horrifying when you think about it. 🤔

I’ve actually achieved one of my items from last year, so I need to note one amendment. This year, we can replace my hopes getting iOS 18 support 6 months late, with maybe getting iOS 26 support 9 months late. How far we’ve come!

@ChrisLawley @matt_birchler Great episode as always! The 3D printer talk is always fun (and tempting), and this was a pretty practical use-case! Niche question on a niche (maybe) topic, but are biodegradable filaments common?

Hm… This theme looks familiar.

@ChrisLawley @matt_birchler Oh no, an episode of Arc alternatives and they’re all Mac apps? Chris, if you want to get the Arc experience and go very very indie, check out Shimmer Browser for iPad!

@quicheindustries Felt wrong to say too much about my app in your app’s thread. 😉

But I did want to mention I’m hoping to provide some healthy competition in the space of decent web browsers.

(I’m glad Shimmer is totally coming from the opposite end of user needs, and I don’t think I can ever […]
