A Productive Day Working Only on My iPad

In this one I take a look at my current workflow with the iPad. After ten years of working from the iPad it has evolved a lot over the years.

Split View is back! 🥳

And it’s fully integrated into windowing, which presumably means it works on external displays too. Coupled with long-running background tasks, iPadOS is looking stronger than ever.

I just hope we’ll see more apps…

There’s never been a better time to pivot to game development!

This is exactly the sort of thing I hoped would come to Swift Playground one day. @Migueldeicaza is the new Apple.

I’m doing a code challenge where I’m going to contribute to 100 open source Swift projects! 👨‍💻

I’ve contributed to 4 so far (about to be 5 when my next PR is approved), so there’s a long way to go 😂 but I’ll share my progress here as I go!

The goal is to up-skill in new areas, while helping […]

New conspiracy theory: the iPhone Air is a prototype for an even thinner iPhone.

They had to make it before they could ship an even thinner iPhone.

Hey, it makes more sense than it being a ‘necessary step’ to a foldable that misses the one crucial point that makes something ‘foldable’. Show me […]

It’s been said that visionOS inspired Liquid Glass, but I’ve not heard it mentioned that watchOS may have inspired the toolbars.

Another Xcode tip for you:

You will save hours of your life by turning off the 'Debug executable' checkbox if you don't actually need to debug your app right now. You'll still get log output, just not crash catching.

Build and run, even to devices over the […]

Now I’m over my rant about the dev tools… The process of redesigning my app was actually pretty nice. It makes me rethink my UI and opens up new options, and I still do really like the look of liquid glass toolbars on iPad!

It’s so satisfying getting rid of that blank ‘status bar’ area at the […]

I’ve been putting off updating my projects to iOS 26, especially where I’ve made an effort to make code iPad-editable…

I’ve found a new iPad behaviour in the latest beta!

Previously, when you take an (iPad) app which doesn’t support resizing and put it on an external display, it would be impossible to ‘fullscreen’ the window, you only got 2 sizes of ‘portrait’ and ‘landscape’ and it’d stay windowed.

Now, if […]

Fun fact: Apple has prototyped making Control Center work on external displays on iPadOS 26, and it's now in a state in beta 5 that I would recommend Apple ship it — and I hope they do! (If that's something you want, let Apple know)

You can test it in the […]
