2/x: In the 80s and 90s when I was coming out, Exodus International was the premier "ex-gay" organization, with leaders who weren't just running the joint, they were also clients!

6/x: Throughout the 80s, 90s, and 00s, Exodus co-produced "Love Won Out" conferences, advertised in newspapers, and encouraged local TV producers to sit with members for interviews (among other tactics) all to promote the message that being queer is neither real nor safe, and they could cure you.

7/x: But they also had a side hustle, which kept the money rolling in. This grift was for prominent members who could tell stories of seedy, self-destructive choices. The more threatening and harmful they could make queer life sound, the more they earned.

25/x: Because that's how this works. Ex gay groups are supported only so long as they are useful to the lying bigots.

What we're getting today is not "ex gay" groups and stories, but "ex trans" groups and stories - the so-called "detransitioners".

26/x: Detransitioners are still useful and thus will be quoted in media and supported with BigotBux specifically because there is no right to be trans or to access trans health care. There's still room for the bigots to hope that they can punish trans ppl using the law.

27/x: This is what stinks in every bit of coverage I've seen of detransitiones.

Even on the left, NONE OF THE MEDIA ARE REPORTING THAT WE'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE BEFORE.

It's called, But I'm A Cheerleader, remember?
