Bought 4 new books today and my brother teased me for expanding my "mini library" to 10 books (7 novels, 2 notebooks, 1 sketchbook) while we're travelling. I can't help myself! I see bookstore, I must go to bookstore, I must purchase books. Very simple

Spent most of today asleep. The holidays are draining, even though I'm happy to be around family that I haven't seen for over 5 years. Things are freaking hectic where I am right now! Seems like they may be a little hectic at home too, though. Perhaps that's just the holiday spirit haha

We were collecting some old precious moments figurines from my grandpa's house recently and accidentally dropped a couple - they were wrapped in nothing but paper towels, but didn't even chip! Talk about a Christmas miracle 😵💫

Unfortunately I can't completely abandon Twitter until some of the people I'm following also move over here. I need my Ina updates, and my regular updates from the Mochipan store! I think I will replace my doomscrolling with bsky though now that I have some better feeds pinned.

Lately I've been reading a book about fungi (Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake) and it's fascinating how intertwined fungi are with not just our lives but quite literally all life on Earth period. Big fan of the weird and wonderful world of fungi now, when previously I was more or less indifferent

Funny to me seeing people complain about not being able to reach their reading goals of 50-100 books meanwhile I've read like 4 books this year and thought I was doing well bc I met my reading goal of 1 book. That's 400% success!🧍

Had my first ever professional performance review and it was nothing but glowing praise after glowing praise (+ holiday bonus, + modest raise). It makes me extremely happy that even though I know personally there are areas where I could improve, they're pleased with my performance the way I am

Sometimes I will receive pushback from family or friends on an idea I've expressed, only to hear them tell me weeks or months later that I was right and they now agree with me. Really no better feeling of vindication than in those moments, and helps me trust my own judgement a little more.

I love this time of year. It doesn't beat out Halloween as my favorite, but I can't deny that life feels a little more magical with a nip in the air, pretty lights and decorations, warm homes, and yummy food and drinks. It helps that I get time off from work to enjoy it 🎄

How is my whole job online but I didn't notice the cloudflare outage yesterday at all?? I keep seeing people post about it and I'm like "oh is that why the bank login was slow?" But I could still access everything just fine, with really minor delays.

Had a lovely morning today! Awake at 6am, made some tea, and enjoyed the feeling of the sun peeking out from the clouds after some morning rain. A more peaceful morning than I've afforded myself in some time. I spent more time working on projects than scrolling this morning, too! Wahoo!!

Just watched the new season of Nobody Wants This. Immediately had so many things to journal about. So many story beats in this season mirrored stuff I've been struggling with lately to an almost painful degree. It was maybe the most productive journaling session I've had to date.

I LOVE this time of year where artists start to post the animated films they created for school. So many beautiful stories and stunning visuals. Reminds me of how much creativity and passion there is in the world, even when I'm not seeing it every second of every day right in front of me.

Dang I didn't realize how delightful bsky was. People on here are making me remember that life is beautiful actually. Twt toxicity is fun sometimes but also ruins my faith in humanity a bit. It's nice to be somewhere where people are just being generally lovely. Makes me less scared to be a person.

Honestly for all the bad of the Internet it's also pretty incredible. Any book you could want to read available within seconds or shipping to you in days. Learning anything you could ever want to learn at a whim. Endless information, activities, media, people. How lucky that I get to experience it 😊

My mom always encouraged me to read, and I was a voracious reader from a young age, consuming mountains of books within a few days. I read so much that, though my mom tried to monitor my reading, at a certain point she just couldn't keep up with my pace anymore and essentially let me loose. (1/2)
