I don’t want to plant an American flag on Mars. I want healthcare that isn’t tied to my job, and won’t bankrupt me if I get sick. I want to be able to retire. I want my kid to be able to afford a house. I want the planet to be safe and healthy. Mars is not it~never was, never will be.

My kid (who often explains the world to me) says it’s cause we’re reading from Scout’s perspective- and she doesn’t get it cause she’s too young- but we as readers do. 1/2

My kid painted her during Covid; she was 10 and locked down and art was her relief.
This face doesn’t look a bit like me, but I feel a bit like her, and it also feels like I’m honoring my kid’s resilience.
