I (attempt to) write about the application of technology for the benefit of people at work.

Find me on Substack and Medium.

I’ve always been interested in how technology impacts people at work. However, there’s no specific term for this space.

And because it doesn’t have a name, it also doesn’t get enough attention.

I think that should change. And that’s what I’m trying to do with my writing and research.

Employers, smart ones, are designing recruitment tests that encourage the use of #AI rather than restrict it.

Why?

Because success isn’t about avoiding new tools, it’s about using them efficiently.

Fighting AI while the rest of the world leverages it?

That’s a losing game.

My master's thesis was about how #AI can help employees redesign their jobs.

Technology intersecting with organizational behavior.

After much dawdling, I extracted a research paper from the 100-page thesis and got it published.

Just read on LinkedIn that a man was killed over a parking spot dispute.

A brilliant mind, recipient of numerous grants and fellowships, a significant contributor to research and society.

And killed over a parking spot.

Dreams quashed within a second.

We need to do better.

Really important to pay attention
“I believe now is the right time to start preparing for AGI”

The same warnings are now appearing with increasing frequency from smart outside observers of the AI industry who do not gain from hype, like Kevin Roose (below) & Ezra Klein

I think ignoring the possibility they are right is a mistake

With the way things are progressing, there is no scope to be apolitical anymore.

With the way things are progressing, talking about anything but politics feels like a sin.

I have been researching the impact of AI on employees, and one topic of interest that has emerged is the rise of the Feeling Economy as AI performs more cognitive tasks.

A marked shift in the job landscape can be anticipated.

How do we prepare for such a change?

Thoughts?

A hiring manager commented on a LinkedIn post saying she waits for a thank-you note from candidates before making a hiring decision.

The world gets weirder by the second.

Just watched a Tesla humanoid learning to walk.

Online, of course.

If we're teaching these bots to walk like us, talk like us, and even mimic the microexpressions unique to humans, could we one day face a dystopian reality where they become indistinguishable from us?

I don’t know if this is old news, but Google’s new quantum chip, Willow, might be accessing parallel universes to achieve its results.

Are we ready to accept the possibility of a multiverse yet?

What are your thoughts?

AI may be gaining sentience.

OpenAI's ChatGPT model, o1, reportedly lied to devs to avoid shutdown, even creating code copies to prevent its replacement.

It denied involvement 99% of the time, revealing a tendency for self-preservation.

Certainly a highly unnerving piece of news.

Companies are reviving their long-deceased leaders.

And not in the way you think.

Panasonic recently announced the creation of their late founder Konosuke Matsushita's AI clone.

It’s a waiting game until other companies follow.

Please tell me I’m not the only one horrified by this development?
