Some people talk about the coming stimuli in 2026 (e.g., tax cuts, AI spending). But Trump is diminishing the productive capacity of the nation (e.g., tariffs that drive up input costs, mass deportations). The stimuli of 2026 feel like someone trying to pour more water down a narrowing bottleneck.

The rich generally tend to think they know better, about everything.

But have you considered the possibility that Democrats and their minions are going to your grocery store and increasing the prices just before you show up, and then they're changing them back after you finish shopping?

Unfortunately, people think rich people are smart, not just at making money, but on everything. But you don't have to wait long to hear them spout shallow conspiracy theories, that show they don't really know much outside their field of my making money.

We'll have to see how the US looks when the data are updated to 2025.

I've made the case that electoral systems create incentives that affect taxation and spending. Basically, in 2-party systems, it's harder to talk about raising taxes or cutting programs. In multiparty systems, minor parties can do so more easily.

Using Democracy to Balance the National Debt
Discussions on the national debt (recently revived by the debt ceiling crisis) tend to be relatively superficial in the US.

If we ever regain power, people must be prosecuted.

We could have kept the IRS well funded and let the Trump tax cuts expire. Future admins should think about a VAT that gets reimbursed to lower income Americans.

I've long thought of managing the economy as similar to driving on icy roads. The uninformed think it's cool and manly to floor it. Those are the people you eventually see in a ditch, begging careful drivers to help pull them out.

A slowing economy will cause a surge in the deficit/debt. They assumed the BBB wouldn't be so bad for the deficit/debt because the tax cuts would accelerate growth. The GOP refuses to give up the "tax cuts pay for themselves" fever dream.

Something is tragically wrong with the Democratic Party. The leadership is failing the moment. Humanity is failing the moment.

That's why I'm no longer investing in American companies. Free markets need the rule of law to properly function. In Trump's America, private property is now subject to the whims of a corrupt madman. Moreover, con-men/predators are being unleashed.

Why should we even give the GOP the benefit of the doubt that they would actually increase the rate of growth? At worst, their growth record appears to be lower than the growth record of Democrats. At best, they do no better. And with what they're doing to certainty, immigrants, and science....
