I went to the Stonefield tree lighting tonight and was so impressed. There were so many kids and families there, and they even gave out free light-up glasses and necklaces etc. Had Elsa and Anna, Eli Cook, and even Santa. Free and family-oriented. We need more of that!

The cold snap this weekend is a good reminder that we can help keep each other warm this winter! Join the winter coat drive and help The Haven. There’s a lot of places to drop off hats, gloves, scarves, and coats and support a local business while you’re there!

One consistent conversation I had today with voters and volunteers was that so many of them want young people more involved and for people who don’t want to fight to step aside. Even in a solid blue county, they know we have got to build a deeper bench.

Cheering for our first woman governor was so fun and cathartic!

Spent the evening with city and county Dems celebrating all of our wins tonight! I am looking forward to getting to work and working with so many people who are already making Albemarle County an even better place to live.

I’ve been at the polls almost all day and it has been great having good conversations with neighbors about the county, but my favorite thing by far has been the first time voters who are showing up and asking how to do it. 🗳️

It’s a gorgeous day to get out and vote!

Had a great time at the democracy event downtown - the music was fantastic! These events are also great because of the organizations who show up. It’s a great way to learn what’s available in the community and sign up for newsletters to stay involved. Thank you to everyone who put this on!

Had a great night listening to so much data at the All-CAC meeting tonight. A lot of challenges facing the county, but also so much possibility.

Another great way to help out the food banks and get a little something (or a lot of something if you’re like me 🫣) in return!

Things are hard and times are tough right now. But we have an opportunity to come together as a community and support each other to make sure everyone has enough to eat. If you are able, our local food pantries can really use donations.

had a great time seeing Spanberger with Pete Buttigieg and Bill Nye tonight! Two weeks until Election Day!

Tattoos based on Adrienne Rich = excellent.
Tattoos based on Nazis = bad. Not a difficult concept!

Had a really great time tonight talking with UVA students at a Hoos Vote event - and so great to see the inside of the renovated chapel. Absolutely gorgeous!

Really bummed to not be at No Kings today but cross country calls, and thrilled to watch my kiddo win the JV race! (and even here you can see people in costume 😅)

I had to recycle some textbooks today and I’ve never actually been to the recycling center before, and had a little tour. Very cool, and I also can’t believe I didn’t have to pay!

After a few weeks of much needed rest (more than I realized I needed), I’m back at it! Went to my first real BOS meeting and was so excited that they passed a by-right solar ordinance - and then today got to check out the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and it was intense! Really well done organization!

Took a tour of Southwood today and learned so much about what a unique development it is, how community focused it has been, and what a great mix of commercial & residential and mixed-income.

I am just ridiculously proud of this particular precinct. This is the area where I started, where I finished, where I did the most mailers, and where we knocked on almost all of the apartment doors twice, even though “renters don’t vote.”

Went to the community meeting about the new data center ordinance that the county is proactively working on. Super interesting and a lot of great community questions and feedback.

Joined the newish Saturday morning bike ride meetup - first time riding a bike in nearly 10 years 😳, and it was so fun!! E-bikes are amazing, holy cow.
