🌏 Pallas's Rosefinch (Carpodacus roseus) The Pallas's Rosefinch is a medium-sized, stocky finch where the adult male is conspicuous with a rose-red body, head, and rump, contrasted by a streaked blackish back, while the female is much duller, being mostly tannish-brown with heavy dark streaking. This species is distributed across the Eastern Palearctic, primarily inhabiting boreal forests and shrublands in Central and Eastern Russia, Mongolia, and China, with most populations being migratory or nomadic, wintering in regions like Japan and the Korean Peninsula. Outside of the breeding season, it is generally gregarious, forming flocks to forage mainly on the ground or in low vegetation for seeds, buds, and insects. Two subspecies are recognised. 2.5 Flash (Edited) Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN 3.1) Fun fact: This finch is a fan of the cold! 🌍 Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus) The Grey Parrot, also known as the Congo Grey Parrot, is a medium-sized parrot, typically shades of light to dark grey with a striking, bright red tail. They are distributed across the lowland rainforests and forest edges of Central and West Africa. Highly social, they are intelligent, monogamous, and form large, noisy, communal roosts. Due to extensive trapping for the pet trade they are thought to be undergoing a rapid decline in the wild.
