Unserious Pedantrist. Casual Pontificator.
I think they forgot what happened a year ago when they pushed us all off of TikTok onto to Rednote to learn a thing or two from the Chinese about handling online censorship.

Americans are real bad at inference and subtlety, it turns out. But we're getting a crash course now.

I think I'm very much what my own parents would have called "white guilt apologist" but it turns out that just means acknowledging that 1) white is not the standard or default against which all else is considered deviation, and 2) some white people have done and continue to do racist shit.

Wow, there is a lot going on there but WOW. Never considered it before, but it makes perfect sense that adoption is a magnet for covert narcissist-martyrs. 😬

The industrial age was the use of machines to overcome biological limitations of our bodies, and consequences were environmental pollution & global warming. Information age uses technology to overcome the biological limitations of our minds, AI slop is mental pollution & information collapse. 🤷‍♂️

I do think this is the exciting part of AI integration- because the physical time it takes to input the information via reading with eyeballs is a limitation that we will have to overcome to keep up with our own creations.

I naturally have the straight blonde hairs that our society deemed so desirable back then. I've been jealous of natural black hair my whole entire life, it is... more fun? More interesting? The variety of styling and artistic expression is so much greater. I can put mine in a ponytail. That's it. 🤷‍♂️

...maybe they can start handing out paper survey/review cards with YA fiction to get feedback?

Oh, gosh, what a position to be in! Darn! 😉

Lordy, I was in a Dollar General during pandemic, in line with three others. Only myself and an older black person were masked. White woman in front turns around, looks at us, says to me, "Mass media has y'all scared, huh?" and I was like, "oh, this? No, no, this is because I took biology in HS"

🤷‍♂️ I'm going to go to my grave knowing he lost and Harris won, but since the powers that be decided to gamble on a Trump presidency being less destabilizing than challenging a rigged election, I'm resigned to accepting their flagrantly erroneous call.

I am, however, going to be salty about it.

Since November 2024, I've felt the need to lobotomize myself with intoxicants to cope with how much I care, sir.

Did M4L infiltrate your library recently? They have their church buddies check out the books they want to ban, then titles get "Lost" and dont get replaced until they just remove the title from the catalog altogether a year later.

I assume its the capitalist ghoul disease rot in their brains telling them that every paperback sold is just a hardcover not sold.

Does it mean I never have a stress-induced emotional meltdown that has me packing said ungrateful bastards up for an impromptu sleepover with Oma because I NEED A BREAK TO CRY ABOUT NEVER GETTING MOTHERS DAY CARDS BEFORE DOING THE EMOTIONAL LABOR OF MAKING 🎄 HAPPEN...

no.

...but we talk it out.

🤷‍♂️ My teenagers ARE ungrateful bastards. Like, literally, born out of wedlock. And teenagers, so the ungrateful part is inherent.

I was an ungrateful shit. My friends were ungrateful shits. It's what teens do. They don't know. They haven't had the life experience required to know.

My children dont owe me gratitude for existing, my physical sacrifices to bring them into this world do not impart on them a debt of obligation, BUT they do owe me a thank you for making dinner because that's how you treat other people who do stuff for you, thankyouverymuch.

If they were capable of extrapolation like that, they wouldn't be MAGA in the first place.

No one follows me on any platform, and I'm not looking to influence anyone. I just like to follow smart people and read the stuff they post about. It's interesting to me. 🤷‍♂️

As the spouse of a combat vet with PTSD, its that little one-two gut punch buried in the second paragraph for me. Thank you for sharing the excerpt.

Right, so, you know how you understand that only 1/3 of Americans voted for Trump, but he's still in office? Take that understanding, and apply it to Alabamians and their elected leadership, please.

We. Are. Disenfranchised.

Our. Politicians. Do. Not. Represent. The. Majority. Of. Us.
