I'm consistently being blown away by the amount of engineering that has gone into Talos Linux for running k8s easily and securely, it's crazy to think that there was a time all of this had to be manually wired up. After wracking my brain and scouring docs, I just learned that Talos Linux, specifically the company behind it, provides a similar service as Tailscale specifically for Talos clusters, it's baked into the OS, and it's free!

I've been working on a distributed application mesh concept for a long time, and recently have spent the past week learning how Talos works and how to configure nodes in the cluster. Part of that has been trying to figure out how to get each node to join a Tailscale network for encrypted comms.

Sources tell me that Tammy Baldwin and Sarah McBride worked behind the scenes to get this provision out and to keep Dems together if it had come to a vote.
