What sparked her passion? A simple intro geology course during her business degree opened her eyes to the possibilities of working outdoors and studying Earth systems. That unexpected turn led her to discover her true calling in river science! 🌎

Currently, Chelsy works as a USGS Student Trainee in Hydrology at the Central Midwest Water Science Center, where she contributes to invasive carp and Great Lakes research while pursuing her PhD 🔬

Her research focuses on two key areas:

How sediment dynamics vary between upstream and downstream locations
Understanding channel-floodplain connectivity during flood events

This work is crucial for water quality and ecosystem health 🌊
