tragically, my boss gave me an official contract offer today to make my role permanent but it comes with a pay decrease and a longer notice period so i gotta sit and discuss it with him and HR to try and stay where i am on the same terms bc of the aforementioned rip.

stuff is happening in life now and it's getting Spooky so i'm trying to crunch as hard as i can to get this project playable before i quit my job and move 100+ miles away and try to achieve my dreams.

most of my friends were also gamecube kids, it wasn't until later when the next gen came out that i learned most of my newer friends grew up on playstation and i became THE gamecube kid again :')

slight tangent but my dad used to stop people throwing their consoles and games out at the dump so he could bring them home instead of wasting perfectly good consoles, which led to me having both.

definitely a gamecube kid at heart though. melee, sunshine and the gc version of sa2b won me over.

maybe this is the version of a sonic game i come back to in the future,, i like this format a lot actually.

i'm pretty sure the idea was that every character archetype had a distinct goal based around their abilities as opposed to everyone except gem hunters just trying to reach a goal ring.

specifically, mech types were more combat-focused and not just 'get to the end' with destructible blockades.

i don't actually remember when this was from but i do vaguely remember making it after making a SA2(D) title screen and promptly giving up when the physics engine kept breaking and i didn't have the attention span to fix it.

the plan would be to throw it all into a short devlog series of like ten episodes just introducing myself and going over some topics briefly.

if i manage to stay on track i might extend it into more phases like building the foundations and adding content but for now i don't have plans so we'll see.

i know nothing about video editing and i'm still waiting out a role switch at work but it's nice to be able to kinda focus and at least have material to work with.

i've been clipping certain video editing styles to hopefully draw inspiration from them and apply it well but i'll have to wait and see if it pays off but the idea is solid.

i've bounced the idea off friends and they've all agreed that it'd be really satisfying if i can pull it off 😖
