The event will be hybrid and simultaneous interpretation Spanish/English will be provided (in person and on zoom). It will be a great opportunity to learn more about what is happening and what actions we can collectively take to fight back these cuts.

But the fight is not over! Right now the budget bill proposal is in Senate and than it will have to be passed again by the House. Follow Safety Net Project for the updates of upcoming actions to stop these cuts!

Congress plans to cut SNAP by $300 billion over the next 10 years and Medicaid by $800 billion to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest and pay for military expansion, border "security", ICE etc.

The proposal passed by one vote and Malliotakis, as the only Republican House Representative in NYC, did nothing to protect her constituents. If this reconciliation budget bill passes it will have devastating impact on Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, Section 8 and NYCHA recipients.

The action organized by our partners: Metro New York Health Care for All, Citizen Action! NY, Make The Road and others, was to protest the passing of slashing reconciliation budget bill proposal by House of Representatives on May 22nd.
