So I went to her memorial service on Tuesday. Up until that point I hadn’t realised that Clare was a Quaker. The service for her taught me that , along with love and war, a Quaker funeral also has no rules.

So I went to her memorial service on Tuesday. Up until that point I hadn’t realised that Clare was a Quaker. The service for her taught me that , along with love and war, a Quaker funeral also has no rules.

But my McGuffin is very real. It’s in the press in our kitchen. It sometimes catches my eye, and I’ll go and pick it up and run my fingers over it’s smooth back, and then I’ll shake it gently , hear the dull reassuring rattle, and place it back.

A few years ago I made a series of mini drawings of interesting Irish women (available as a print here www.ciaraioch.com/artprints/p/...) - this thread is a little information on the women featured, partly because it's useful, but mostly because I'm trying to be sustainable by recycling content.
