As ever, a shining beacon of good sense, grace and maturity.
There's something about the way the diminishing evening light hits the still-lush greenery in late September, early October, isn't there.
Spent most of yesterday picking apples - a bit late and not the best year, still adds up to many bucketfuls - and hastily planting a few daffodils.

Went out to see Mogwai, as you do when they finally stop by in your neck of the woods, and oh boy are my ears ringing now.

Tabby's a girl and the fluffy tuxie seems like a boy. The tuxie was harrassed by a tom and nervous today, but once I saw him and waved him down with a wet food packet, and kept guard as he ate, he reached out and pawed at my hand like saying thanks. So cute.

Posted about my old IDLF for Uniqlo pinstripe trousers earlier this summer. And I was wrong! They are ~not~ s/s 2015, but in fact from the first ever collection, s/s 2014 (basically identical save for the drawstring).

So I figured it was time to treat myself to a nice flat white and a sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free pastry (this little spot near work does both really well).

It was NWT and the fabric is a nice-feeling cupro blend. Another item was a small Hellolulu Cana bag I ogled, but thought too expensive for 60ish € at Mark's Style Tokyo in Paris; Sellpy had one for 3.50, just needs a wash.
Should return a classic Dannimac trench, as it doesn't fit quite right.

Said lunch at Chez Pradel - got a nifty map layer of eateries recommended by locals from the Paris subreddit at some point and this no-nonsense, ancient-looking establishment is on it.

Baby I swear it's déjà vu.
(Yes, Paris again, the boyf gets cranky if we don't go twice a year).

The surrounding area used to be marshy, so not unreasonable to assume this approach through a drier spot was in use earlier as well. It is only partially accessible now, mowed until the last old farmhouse, rest slowly overgrowing and forgotten. I cherish walking it every summer.

A warm day well spent picking wild strawberries and flowers in the woods - not the fragrant orchids though, these are protected.
Strawberry season is below average this year, I can usually pick 1 litre in 2 hours, this time it was half that and they were a bit mushier due to all the rain.

It's from Duc de Berry's "very rich" book of hours, of course somewhat overshadowed by the Limbourg brothers' earlier and far more famous illuminations; Colombe is assumed to have been the book's last contributor around 1485-90.

In my defence, it is the Diblissea dress by Hugo Boss from 2017 or so, as worn by the queen of Spain and a Swedish princess; randomly found it newly listed on Momoxfashion in an as-new condition (yes, I was procrastinating), and I don't think it would have stayed there for long.

Making the most of the late-in-season peonies.

Excited for a midnight thunderstorm we're about to get. Still too far away to hear, but flashes in the clouds towards the horizon every few seconds.

Worked my way up to better things, re-visited the same destinations with more money, better people and nicer weather and had a much better time. The one-time work friend? Good riddance. The trousers though? Timeless, casual in an elegant way, comfortable and durable.

One more: our sofas, etc., are also covered in cheap, washable cotton bedspreads for reasons (also, I spill tea and whatnot myself).

Anyway. Here he is, enjoying crinkly packing paper and producing hefty grey dust bunnies. The white rag rugs are machine washable and tolerant of stain removers, for obvious reasons.

Grey upon grey, as seen on quick evening bike tour.

There were also lower categories of Soviet maternity honors, medals starting from 5 kids - the woman on Laktionov's painting has one for 5 or 6 (not enough pixels), but you already qualified for some perks with 3. As in, you'd be issued a document, and that made you eligible to pass queues in shops.

And a fancy café flat white as chaser.

Green tofu curry for a late lunch on a miserably cold and windy day.

This is from a couple of summers ago, the pink one is the one now struggling (and the one w the massive white blossoms is the ex-office plant that died). It used to bloom copiously twice a year.

Bought expensive makeup, the cat was not impressed.

In France for a week, already miss my baby so much. 😥

The baby, probably:
