Aaaand we rescued a 3rd cagarro juvenile tonight. FYI it is exceedingly windy, foggy, and misty on São Miguel, which is why we think there are so many rescues yesterday & today. Rescued, checked out, and released safely.

Cagarro rescue 10/27/25 part 2.

Cagarro rescue again, this one was on our doorstep. Shortly after this we rescued another one. They are both released safely to the wild. Cory's Shearwater are an endangered species so we do what we can to rescue them.

Juvenile cagarros rescue part 2.

We rescued our first juvenile Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris borealis) tonight. They learn to fly around October 15th to November 15th and often crash when they see artificial lights. We released him at a cliff near the ocean away from the light. When he felt safe, spread his wings and flew away.

The force does not awaken.
