So I was watching an European orb weaver spider make her web & live her life, until she died 6 weeks ago. Today, I saw one of her babies making a baby web in the same window.

Aaaand we rescued a 3rd cagarro juvenile tonight. FYI it is exceedingly windy, foggy, and misty on São Miguel, which is why we think there are so many rescues yesterday & today. Rescued, checked out, and released safely.

Cagarro rescue again, this one was on our doorstep. Shortly after this we rescued another one. They are both released safely to the wild. Cory's Shearwater are an endangered species so we do what we can to rescue them.

We rescued our first juvenile Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris borealis) tonight. They learn to fly around October 15th to November 15th and often crash when they see artificial lights. We released him at a cliff near the ocean away from the light. When he felt safe, spread his wings and flew away.

She is deep in a funnel shaped web in our shed. 5cm to 6cm across The giant house spider, Eratigena duellica. She is amazing pest control.

Hurricane Gabrielle missed us on São Miguel, these are just the winds at its edge. My chickens are scared but ok, no freelancing until the wind calms down.
