Writer & dedicated publisher on Medium.com. There's nothing better in this world than hot tea, good books and warm cuddly animals. Unless it's all 3 at once.
Please read this wonderful story on my Medium publication.

I haven't read the mentioned interview myself, yet, but this is something I didn't realise about Substack.
I know a lot of folks use Substack and I can appreciate why, but I’m unlikely to read things at Substack because TBH, their management is waaaay too welcoming to anti-LGBTQ cranks, racists and even some Nazi-adjacent types. Nilay Patel’s interview of their CEO is an eye-opener.

So sad to hear about the death of one of my favourite writers A.S.Byatt.

It's a common occurrence for our boost-nomination to not be in line with staff curators opinions, hence we frequently earn less than our maximum amount. Still, we nominate pieces of writing we believe have something worth reading -and stand by our choices.
This one wasn't Boosted, but I love it:

The last piece of work I nominated and had accepted for a 'Boost' was this one. The writer is a regular on Counter Arts, but I have also nominated work by writers who are brand new to my publication (and sometimes to Medium as a whole). The quality of the work is what is important.

I mostly (but not exclusively) nominate work for Boosting which comes into my own publication Counter Arts, where we host articles, essays and reviews about Art, Culture, Literature, Equality, Photography, Film(&TV) and Music.
High quality writing is a must and preferably not 'shortform'.

As Ariel (who is in charge of the boost nomination pilot) has mentioned frequently, we are paid for this endeavour. The arrangement is, we are allowed up to 20 nominations PER MONTH, from which we have the potential to earn $900 MAXIMUM. (Usually less).

I am one of the publishers on Medium.com who is involved in the boost nomination pilot, through which I make suggestions to Medium's staff curation team about which pieces of work I feel deserve to be Boosted (or granted an extra push and wider distribution).
