Now the Palms tenants are being pushed out of their homes through renoviction, a state-sanctioned process that allows landlords to evict tenants when they plan repairs that will take longer than 30 days. Join us in demanding real preventative solutions that keep people housed!

When tenants appealed to County code enforcement, these slumlords were completely unfazed by the county’s weak and lax enforcement mechanisms. Why not? Because they know that, at the end of the day, they can keep collecting rent no matter how bad the conditions get.

County reps claim that they are committed to addressing the homelessness crisis in Sac County, but elected officials constantly refuse to make time for tenants. For years, the Palms apartments have been owned by a slew of slumlords who ignored horrible habitability conditions.

For months, Palms tenants have requested an in-person meeting with Supervisor Desmond but his office has deflected by suggesting that tenants meet with his staff. Meanwhile, the Palms tenants are forced to confront the real possibility that they will be pushed to the streets.
