I always wondered what these townhouses on Minnehaha Parkway used to be and I guess it was Page Elementary:

Used to live in Field and would have stayed if we hadn't lived on 46th and Portland. Great area.

Abene tried to tell me that she's basically a volunteer when I complained about something via email.

Mine has us come in 3 days a week and I spend almost zero dollars downtown. Maybe every few months I get a sandwich.

I didn't pay much attention to city politics until the mid 2010s so it's interesting to hear how different things used to be

Clancey's has a much better pull as a market/deli and it has an established customer base. Kruse had some cool stuff but I never had a real reason to go there despite it being much closer. At Clancey's you can build tonight's dinner and get a sandwich for lunch.

They also had to compete with Five Watt and Royal Grounds for coffee. Both have well established and loyal customer bases. And KM coffee wasn't very good.

It was a bit much for the area. The grab and go items were nice but without meat or veg or bread it wasn't that useful. Food was exceptional but it was expensive. Coffee wasn't very good. There was no real "I gotta stop there" pull. Clancey's fills the sandwich and market niche well enough.
