i know where i draw the line, and i think it's important to know where you draw the line in what you allow and what you are uncritical of
August 21, 2025 at 1:00 AM
i wanted to give myself time to try and come at this as objectively and non-reactionary as possible, and also to not accuse anyone of anything aside from not thinking more critically about the situation, i dont think being radicalized in the opposite direction is the answer
August 21, 2025 at 1:00 AM
i also dont believe this situation should be regarded as not allowing fun when the fun is allowing sexual art of children. i think it's also dangerous to conflate perversion with this too, i dont believe we should be discussing who the more ethical pervert is when the discussion is abt children
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
i believe comparing it to arguments against noncon are also disingenuous because adults have agency, whereas children do not. they are a vulnerable demographic and cannot consent ever. the distinction is clear here when it involves children
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
shiloh's intent becomes moot when we weigh that against how explicitly she is showing a child in a sexual situation, even if it were completely fictional, and we are only a certain degree of separation away from reality when we engage in rpf so i believe that argument falls flat here
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
if you believe that this is a matter of just censorship or discomfort with dark themes i don't think YOU are thinking critically enough about the situation
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
its also important to be responsible about how you depict children and sex- its dangerous to center what the child is doing or whats done to them and how graphic it is depicted since there is a non-zero chance that offenders and real pedophiles can use it for harm
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
taboo subjects SHOULD be explored, but we should interrogate why we are engaging in it. are you aroused by it involving children? in that case you should identify what separates you from an offender. i'm not accusing anyone but i believe you should be critical of what you normalize internally
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
i also dont think you would encourage sexual art or fic to be made of a real minor or child, we draw the line there for rpf (or at least we should) but hj was a real child and the art depicted him as such even if it was a fictional situation
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
first of all, i ask, would you encourage fic to be written about hj and his brother? the fics written in which the members are related are completely fictional, but i believe we know where the line is drawn in regards to shipping members with their real life siblings
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
i believe that the reactionaries making false claims are unfair. i also think it's very unfair to reduce this down to censorship or claim this situation is in any way comparable to the allowance of noncon or fictional incest
August 21, 2025 at 12:59 AM
i also think it's important to say that i don't even believe pedophilia deserves total condemnation. i believe in rehabilitation, i believe that people irl who experience that kind of attraction deserve help and understanding (not to be conflated with encouragement)
August 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
it esp crosses a line for me when its of a real person. does it become ok to depict a real child like that if you rationalise it by saying it's just a fictional version of them in your art? i don't believe so. but he was a real child once, so why should it be ok to depict him as a child doing that?
August 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
however, i also think it's irresponsible to post that sort of thing publicly. i think it crossed a line. and i understand not everyone thinks the same. i think children are more vulnerable both irl and online and this sort of situation is noncomparable to smth like noncon in rpf or what have you
August 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
i will also say that i am a victim of csam (which was incestuous in nature) and this discussion has been difficult to both see and navigate as someone who understands that shiloh has every right to explore her own trauma as she pleases and create dark fiction as a method of dealing with it
August 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
but to me i think there's a line to be drawn with depicting csem esp of someone who is a real person, and at many points of his life, was a real child. we've seen pictures of him as a kid, there is content that exists of him as a minor. i don't think it changes anything to frame it as fiction
August 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
i believe we have a responsibility as creators, and especially in the rpf space, to understand we have already crossed a boundary, but that doesn't mean we should throw away ethics entirely because of it. exploring things like kink and disturbing themes are not forbidden in fiction of course
August 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
when shiloh first posted that art, i unfollowed and blocked right away. i want to make it very clear that i don't agree with censorship, i believe it's nothing but a slippery slope that leads to harming the marginalised in the long run. that being said, i also cannot condone what shiloh did
August 18, 2025 at 5:01 AM
to be completely clear and honest, i don't think xin or shiloh condone csam irl or that its pedophilia to explore dark themes like that since the issue is more than black and white
