EXPERIMENT #1: THE MCGURK EFFECT • What is the theory for why this works? • Through lots of careful study-collecting data, and thinking hard-scientists have a theory about why this happens: • Your eyes saw the face saying a sound that's made at the back of the mouth. • Your ears heard a sound that's made at the front of the mouth. • Your brain blended this information together, and made you think you're heard a sound made in the middle of the mouth.
