In the year of the RPG, the GotY was yet another platformer.
And that’s ok! Cutest platformers have defined multiple eras.
Without platformers, console gaming wouldn’t be what it is today.
I just hope the contributions of RPGs, specifically JRPGs, are recognized… someday.

The fact that #Concord flopped after @playstation.com shoveled $400 million into it while their other game #AstroBot got #GOTY with only $40 million shows that @shawnlayden.bsky.social is right about unsustainable game development budgets.
