In an era of AI slop and billionaire-owned media, there's still good journalism happening. It's happening at places like Louisville Public Media and @kentuckypublicradio.org And it only exists because our members believe in it too. Thank you.

I have to say, I felt that. I felt that BECAUSE, we were in all of thsoe places too. I have personally reported on every one of those stories, because it's important, because people need to know what's going on, and because I believe in the power of local media.

The governor walked through the half–mile debris path today, here's what he said:
“I’ve had to order freezer trucks in a pandemic, I’ve walked the path of an F4 tornado through my dad’s hometown, I’ve seen towns hit by flooding we can only describe as biblical and what this scene is, is violent.”

Federal agency investigating Louisville UPS plane crash says engine fell off on takeoff
An official with the National Transportation Safety Board says the left engine fell off the UPS plane as it was attempting to take off, before crashing just beyond the runway.

I'm the managing editor of @kentuckypublicradio.org and The Appalachian + Mid-South Newsroom, and I've worked for @lpm.org for the last 7 years. Last night, just after 5 p.m. a UPS cargo plane crash landed south of the airport -- and the largest UPS air hub in the U.S.
