I agree with Frakes. #StarTrekTNG needed a trimuverate of its own. Originally, GR wanted it to be the three stages of a Starfleet officer: Picard, Riker, and Wes.

But I think it should’ve been Troi, Riker, and Picard. Troi was more Spock-like, plus her relationship with Will adds spice.
