Appears Oregon Senate Bill 686, which would have required Google and Meta to pay journalism organizations in the state, has failed by a single vote. Sent back to committee, which likely means this bill isn't going to pass at this point in the session.

Context always matters. Describing David Medina - who broke into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 -- as an "X user" alone seems to fall a little short. Medina is a political hack and certainly should not be taken at his word. Very interesting to see the Department of Homeland Security quote tweeting him.

Portland police say there are so many people at today's protest that it's spilled onto the Morrison Bridge. For now, it appears officers are responding by direction traffic away from the demonstration.
