Jake-Jake was a nice boy.

Except when he tried to steal my wife.

When I took Hyun Sook to America, he fell in love with her and would growl at me if I tried to hug or kiss her.

Can't blame him, though.

I don't know what any of this has to do with my post or the Rosebuds image, but cool.

(I was talking about long-running large-cast prestige television series where everyone has eight nicknames)

Lessons from my tangles with book banners:

If you can discredit them and defend those they target without saying their names or spreading their hateful words, they get so so mad. They can't profit from it! It is so much better.

Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Literally buying one copy of a book at your local indie bookstore can mean the difference in whether they buy future books from that author.

If you're wondering why it's only one guy, the previous democratic president was actually a defender of banned book clubs but was driven to an early grave by the aforementioned felons.

I talked a lot about him here:
Our The Attorney episode with @ryanestrada.com wasn’t office part of Politics Month 2025, but wound up being apt for our times. #koreanmovies #songkangho Episode here!!! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/b...

Yep. I was talking specifically about the anti-library, anti-reading "groups" I tangle with who are unfortunately very much in the US, making life difficult for educators. But the problem goes beyond them.

Moon Jae In has owned an indie bookstore for a long while, but he just started posting book reviews on YouTube.

Okay I had a whole comedy thread planned but I paused to check and realized these three musicals are all playing in Seoul next year so there is no mystery.

But let's all just appreciate that Beetlejuice is officially a Christmas character now.

I keep repeating this because it can be scary being targeted by an official-sounding organization if you don't know it's one friggin weirdo who figured out a life hack that they can get funding checks from political groups by being creeps under an org name instead of their own.
