and i think this trend harkens back about 20 years to when Rolling Stone decided every single album, unless so offensive its hatred was universal, deserved 3.5 stars
And I agree that the Ringer network is ground zero for this trend. It genuinely feels like all the hosts have been told by management that they are not allowed to hate anything or criticize anything. Even the mildest criticism is preceded by minutes of apologetic throat-clearing.
