i never got the hype. it just looks like a blob to me. even the “explanations” make no sense

yep! although the garage is from the 2000s, i think the cars were kicked out earlier than that.

You can’t make this stuff up: Huntley says the trains will cause traffic jams (god forbid…) while Marengo says they will solve them.

no, just miscellaneous track upgrades downstate

we actually did that for one block in chicago, complete with the carriage steps

i keep shouting to no one in particular about low floor LRVs.

RTA should get alstom’s french design team to give them something unique and locally suited.

there’s really something about fascists and train stations, huh

yeah full landscape ordinance including the wrought iron fencing.

can’t tell for sure but i assume they did stormwater detention too.

a lot of the surrounding gravel lots may be old enough they predate the landscape/stormwater ordinances.

they go all the way to division now.

this is DX-8 though, FAR/density levels not achievable in the neighborhood zoning districts.

the original competition entry also had 8 units including some duplexes and a raised ground floor, but looks like they simplified and took those out in favor of simplex units

this property could be a gem but it was never goong to reach its potential under zell.

i hope blue star is able to bring back the incredible mural too

i think the solution they used on the ronda litoral in barcelona would work well here since the fountain is 8-10’ higher than the lakefront promenade.

keeping LSD open on one side behind an arched wall avoids the need for active ventilation too

i think it’s meant to crack down on stuff like this.

which i personally think is ugly but the city shouldn’t be micromanaging it
July 14, 2025 at 4:06 AM
this is cool but none of this development is really transit supportive!

this is the rare situation in the US like the Flushing Line in 1917, but all they can build next to stations is shitty car-oriented apartments.

bus lanes aside, one of the things i really want in the DLSD rebuild is *crystal clear* signage about the ban on trucks and commercial vehicles.

this ain’t gonna get thru the skulls of car-brained americans on their phones:
