Until an unfortunate collision with the vacuum cleaner, this was a tall, baroque tower of magnetic tiles. I am in deep shit when my son comes home.

If United States' willing entanglement in this genocide were not already obvious, the paper of record has now "revised" their account of this precious baby's death in the classically American manner of a rejected health insurance claim.

They gave this pretty, pretty man a gold tooth and decided that was sufficient for his transformation into a Brontëan antihero. Amazing critical reading skills. Impeccable cinematic instincts. Good work, everybody.

Apple TV+’s Frog and Toad animated miniseries rewrites the story of Frog looking funny in his bathing suit so that all of the animals get bathing suits that are identical to his. Weak shit. A narrative totally defanged! Arnold Lobel is writhing in his grave!

It’s hard to believe that Too Much was published five years ago today. I’m a different person from the one who wrote her, and necessarily so. But I’m very glad I did, and grateful to everyone who has read and shared her. ❤️

Coming in May 2025 from @sandtclassics.bsky.social , @sarahweinman.bsky.social and I introduce Mary Elizabeth Braddon’s wild ride of novel, Lady Audley’s Secret! This much-needed series brings so many lesser read, yet very worthy 19th C novels to readers, and I’m grateful to be a small part of it.

Here is the addendum to my institution's diversity and inclusion statement that I include in my syllabi and read to my students at the start of every term. I've especially emphasized it this week. Please feel free to use it if you like. These are scary times, but we must stand for what's right.
