Collective bargaining resolution update from Kamras - essence of a compromise neither the unions or admin achieved everything they hoped for. Solved areas: breadth of topics and what qualifies as a topic settled on 10 discrete proposals. 🛋️

We are $40 mm short for Woodville Elementary School rebuild. Some federal grants cancelled or rescinded. Have gotten $12 mm from state so unlikely more from state. In 2029 new batch of $200 mm of funding. 🛋️

Vacant property update : Arthur Ashe has been transferred and Moore street is in process. Norell ANNEX recs quitclaim. Not big enough for a school. 13 acres @ Holton falling down give community a year to move it, if not demolish and retain green space. 🛋️

Now they are calling for the vote on the $1.16 first:
Breton- No
Jordan- No
Gibson- Abstain
Abubaker- Aye
Lynch- Aye
Robertson- No
Newbille: No
Trammell: Aye
Jones: No
Now for $1.20 it’s still a Gibson abstention but it passes otherwise.

Doesn’t see us reducing a tax rate right now because of all the variables including external variables. But looks forward to doing due diligence where we can have that discussion.

Okay I’m back. Newbille says we can’t underestimate the federal impact. Major obligations. CIP projects. So we say okay we maybe have $17M in surplus but we don’t know. Need to collect the $30M but that wont address the issues before us.

Says they aren’t voting blindly because they knew when they voted for the budget. Cites the convo from informal about lowering poverty rate. Isn’t willing to bet on what services get cut. This convo needs to continue happening. Get serious about priorities. 🧜♀️

this is not the place for it. Not voting for it tonight because she made a choice when she voted for the budget. Wants to be clear that what someone votes doesn’t diminish being there for the people. Want to see if what they’re doing is moving the closer to equity and nothing shows that.

Now Nicole Jones is speaking. Says she knew what the tax rate and assessments were in January. She’s already heard people talk about new projects and things they want to do not related to any of the issues at hand. Keeping people in houses or decades of catch up. We should be working in tandem and
